Win Star Alliance Gold Status

Star Alliance have just released a game that offers the chance to win gold status for one year on practically ANY Star Alliance member airline. You can find it here. The competition is now available, and ends at 18:00 GMT on 13 December, 2013.

Check it out for yourself, but the major highlights are:

  • You will be asked 5 questions, that you need to answer as quickly as possible. Incorrect answers incur a 30 second penalty
  • You get to play twice, the second attempt conditional on sharing the game via social networking (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) (the questions second time around will be different)
  • The two quickest entrants for each of 18 frequent flyer programmes will receive Gold status for a year in their selected programme. Participating programmes are:
    • Aeroplan® (Air Canada), Airpoints® (Air New Zealand), ANA Mileage Club® (ANA), Asiana Club® (Asiana Airlines), EGYPTAIR Plus® (EGYPTAIR), EuroBonus® (Scandinavian Airlines), Infinity MileageLands® (EVA Air), KrisFlyer® (Singapore Airlines), LifeMiles® (Avianca), Miles & Bonus (Aegean Airlines), Miles & More® (Adria Airways, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS), Mileage Plus® (Copa Airlines, United), Miles & Smiles® (Turkish Airlines), PhoenixMiles® (Air China, Shenzhen Airlines), Royal Orchid Plus® (THAI), ShebaMiles® (Ethiopian Airlines), Victoria® (TAP Portugal), SA Voyager® (South African Airways)

I made my two attempts and failed miserably. I chose Aegean Miles & Bonus as I figured that a) the programme doesn’t actually have provision for losing status, as long as your account is active, and b) there are probably much much fewer M&B members playing this game than the big boys like United Mileage Plus and Miles & More…

You might as well give it a shot. You might get lucky and guess the right answers quickly and get yourself Gold status for a year.
