The French hotel chain Accor have announced a promotion offering triple Avios for stays between 11 July and 12 October, 2016. However, the stay must be booked before 12 September, 2016.
Le Club Accor works differently from most other hotel chains, since there is no award chart for converting “points” into free hotel stays. Instead, members can convert 2,000 points into vouchers worth 40 euros at an Accor hotel, or alternatively members can convert points into airline miles (either automatically or by converting batches of points). The best airline mile conversion rate is available with Iberia Plus Avios – at a 1:1 rate.
The earning ratio for Accor points looks like this:
So, for stays at the full service properties, Iberia Plus members can basically earn 7.5 Avios per euro during the triple Avios promotional period.
In order to benefit from the bonus Avios, however, Le Club Accor members must have activated Iberia Plus as their preferred conversion option. To do this, members should follow these steps: log-in to their Accor account, click on “Manage my account”, select “My loyalty card”, “My rewards”, “Activate/Deactivate automatic conversion of my points into partner points”, choose “Option 2: I would like to convert my Le Club Accorhotels points into points for other loyalty programs systematically”, then choose Iberia Plus to convert automatically your points. (I tried to copy and paste this from the Accor website, but the English was so poor I needed to edit!)
I presume this stipulation is required to avoid members hoarding their Accor points / vouchers then converting to Avios during promotional periods such as this one.
Nonetheless, 7.5 Avios per euro is a reasonably interesting deal, particularly if you can combine this with a 10-15% cashback offer from Quidco or Topcashback. So make sure to register today so you don’t forget…
