British Airways Executive Club / Iberia Plus – 2017 Peak / Off-peak Dates

As most Avios collectors – whether British Airways Executive Club or Iberia Plus (hopefully both) – know, the April 2015 devaluation included the introduction of peak and off-peak dates. However, neither Executive Club nor Iberia Plus make it particularly easy to find out which dates are considered to be peak and which dates are off-peak. With many people’s thoughts turning to 2017 holiday planning, an easy reference for peak / off-peak dates would surely come in handy…

As always, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • With British Airways Executive Club, ALL partner awards are priced according to peak dates – therefore the British Airways calendar only applies to flights on BA itself
  • When booking flights on Iberia, 99% of the time you should move your Avios to Iberia Plus and book from there – surcharges should be lower. The Iberia calendar applies to flights on Iberia itself, as well as Vueling awards sold as an Iberia codeshare.
  • If you have a choice between flying on BA, Iberia or a Oneworld partner, you can take advantage of the differences in peak / off-peak calendar. For example, Iberia’s calendar reflects bank holidays in Madrid and the peak summer and Christmas travel season. A half-term school holiday in the UK or elsewhere might fall on off-peak dates according to Iberia.

Unfortunately, British Airways commitment to offering EVERY Tuesday and Wednesday as an off-peak  date has been quietly shelved…
