If you aren’t yet a member of Singapore Airlines’ frequent flyer programme called Krisflyer, you should sign up before 14 April, 2017. If you do, you will receive 500 free miles to get you started.

500 miles isn’t going to get you anywhere. But Singapore Airlines is an American Express Membership Rewards transfer partner in the UK and you can also get a nice chunk of Krisflyer miles from an SPG Nights & Flights package or a Marriott Rewards Travel Package.
The main attraction of Krisflyer is that it is the only way to access First Class and Business Class on Singapore Airlines, as reward seats in premium cabins are rarely, if ever, provided to Star Alliance partners. Here’s what the reward chart looks like. It is important to remember that you receive a 15% discount when booking Singapore rewards online.
For what it’s worth, Krisflyer also partners with Virgin Atlantic. I highlight this because there are now situations where you can book Virgin Atlantic Upper Class reward flights for fewer miles. For example, a return Upper Class reward from London to Los Angeles, Las Vegas or San Francisco would cost 100,000 Krisflyer miles, whilst Virgin Atlantic has started to charge 155,000 miles for the same reward on peak dates.
