World of Hyatt Announces Double Point Promotion

As many of you know, Hyatt Gold Passport is now called World of Hyatt. The changes – I wrote about them here – have received a very mixed reception from frequent Hyatt guests. I thought that Hyatt might launch a promotion to push the new World of Hyatt, but that didn’t happen on 1 March.

However, World of Hyatt have announced a promotion that will run from 1 April until 30 June, 2017.

The promotion is simple. Starting with your second stay, you will earn double points. This means that you will earn 10 Hyatt points for each U.S. dollar spent.

You must pre-register here.

Compared to previous offers from Hyatt, this one is substantially less lucrative. In 2016, you could earn 75,000 bonus points for staying 25 nights. That worked out to 3,000 bonus points per night if you managed 25 nights. In order to earn 3,000 bonus points per night with a double-point promotion, you would need to spend $600 per night!

Although double points is better than nothing, I’m really quite sad to see all of the changes to Hyatt’s loyalty programme, which they then decide to make worse by making their promotion much less attractive. I suppose business is going so well that they believe they can get away with cuts…

That said, if you have a long stay coming up with Hyatt, you might want to squeeze in a one-night stay ahead of time, so that your long stay earns those double points…
